Apparently It's Talk About Fashion Day

I'm at work and picked up my Staff Institute Day invitation with my pay stub. It reads, among other things:

Dress for the day is business casual; please do not wear jeans, denim or gym wear.At first I thought, "Hey, that's funny. Why do they bother differentiating denim from jeans? What's wrong with a nice denim shirt or skirt ( Read more... )

Thanks for the Not A Robot link. I can see myself spending some time there.

I swear, part of the reason I stay at my job is because I can wear whatever I want. If I had a dress code I might freak out.

You're welcome! It's always (well, usually) interesting to get different authors' perspectives on process.

The dress code here is pretty relaxed, and most times I don't mind it. And on the bright side, it means that when I'm not at work, I can wear the same favorite comfy shirt every day if I want and nobody cares!

That's pretty funny. Does anyone at you library not dress business casual every day. And, whoa, who wore the gym wear last year?

According to wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_casual , a tennis shirt (i.e polo shirt) is acceptable for women. You know what that mean: http://homestarrunner.stores.yahoo.net/trogdorpolos.html

LOL, a Trogdor polo shirt would be just the thing! Burninatin' the dress code...

Shelvers and custodians are allowed to wear jeans every other day, so ironically they're the only people who have to dress *up* for Staff Day. But yeah, the rest of us are stuck with business casual every day.

I don't think anyone wears gym clothes, ever. I'm not sure where they get that. They may as well specify that people not wear pasties and feather boas.

Sometimes I'm happy there's not really a dress code at CPL, even though dressing up for work often makes me feel happier to be there for some reason, I often wear jeans (I finally gave in when I saw my branch manager wearing them frequently). I think the only thing that's expressly forbidden is shorts, which I never wear anyway. And it's funny, just like you, whenever I wear something I think my branch manager or boss will just think is too weird, like my shoes with cat faces on them, they usually just end up complimenting them as being cute =).
