thank you for articulating a bit of what i've been too tongue-tied to say. it's something like hope for a better future, and while i know the road is going to be uphill, i'm so looking forward to it!

Hope. Yes. anonymous September 3 2008, 00:42:17 UTC
I know the word's been tossed around a lot, but that is the underlying theme of the Democratic Party's race this time around.

That, and faith. Not religious or spiritual, but faith in humanity. Faith in ourselves, that we CAN and WILL make a difference. Faith in those that wish to lead us, trusting in them again to help us fix what has been (not completely) broken.

Obama phrased it perfectly in his speech - "individual responsibility and mutual responsibility." We need to have the courage to rely on our (new, Democratic) government again, and we need to step up ourselves and work with them.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I welled up during Obama's speech, because I felt that sense of hope rising, for the first time in a long time. I've tried to hold on to that feeling as well, as we should between now and election time.

Thank you for your post.

Oh Cel, there you go again making this eloquent post that says everything so wonderfully.

The DNC was an overwhelmingly exciting event to watch this time around. I just remember watching four years ago and still feeling uneasy about our future. This time around, however, from Michelle's speech, to Hillary's, to Bill's, and then of course Obama's, the momentum just kept growing and growing. It makes me think AND feel like we will win. We can't afford to lose.

I could go on and on about McCain, but just watching him publicly shoot himself in the foot repeatedly is good enough for me. :)
