The People's Mandate

Nov 03, 2004 17:12

So.

That's it. The election is over. And the American people have spoken. They wanted four more years, and that's what they got.

I really thought that Kerry would win. Honestly. I thought that the American people were fed up with what was going on with Iraq and the economy and our foreign relations. But no, they voted on wedge issues. Abortion ( Read more... )

ashley i completely feel you! i went out to vote thinking that my fellow peers would be too. you know what the ratio of our age group went out to vote 1 out of 10 wtf! i understand and with you on the stand of bush's war and policies. i really thought that our peers and others in our world we called our country, would think twice on what bush stands on his war in iraq and his moral issues. a lot of things need to be changed in the 2008 election thats a for sure! the next four years are going to be something that all bush' supporters never expected, thats my opinion. think twice on election day is what i think tehy should think about now!

This has been a really bad day for me. I felt let down today, but I'm taking my stand. From the moment I heard of Bush's re-election, I stopped speaking. Now, my goal is to continue this. During school hours I will not speak, my vow of silence begins, my own private protest. It won't do a damn thing, but you know what, I'm not going to go to Iraq. Maybe you can clear this up for me Ashley, but if I'm not mistaken isn't there a good chance of a draf with Bush as our president? If that be the case, screw that. I'm not going off to Iraq to die for a president I despise. My friend had a good idea, if they impose a draft, get arrested for possession. They won't send you then. I'd much rather go to prison then to Iraq.

there's no way the draft will ever be reinstated in America. Never.

I wouldn't say ever, but it's rather unlikely. All that talk about a draft was a rumor. Bush cleared that up in one of the debates. Not that we have any reason to believe him or anything, but it's really, really unlikely.

So don't worry.

Kerry has a knack for turning people against each other.

i.e.: see vietnam war.

why spread the hate? What's done is done and badmouthing the president isn't going to unify this country again.

at this rate, we're heading towards another civil war... and it'll take another 9/11 for the country to be back to normal.

Osama Bin Laden was right: We create our own security... the country does not. If we fight, and are torn apart, how much more likely is it that we'll be easier to attack?

don't spread the hate.

Your first comment: Wow, Sandra. That's just...not nice. Someone truly thought that there might be a draft, and they were scared. I don't understand how that's immature ( ... )

In the past few day's I have calmed down, in that sense I mean that I have realized the the vow of silence was a really dumb idea and that it just makes me look like a moron (even though I prety much am).

I feel like if i say what I want to say right now that I'm going to look even worse, so I'll just shut up and leave the talking to the smart people. Maybe its this being sick that's got my mind all slow. Eh, que?
