Sounds like you're becoming handy around the house. Kathy does all the yard work here but she's really good at it. Especially the flower beds and plants. I've made a lot of bird feeders and bird houses and still have a bunch in the shop if you're interested in any. You'll get good at identifying birds when you start feeding them too. I think Sandy would be proud of what all you're doing as well.

Next time we meet up, bring along a bird feeder, sure! I mostly see robins, sparrows, cardinals, mourning doves... that's about all I've had time to notice so far... not as many starlings here as in Fairfield, it seems, though I liked the way they chattered weirdly. I've also seen a bright yellow bird fairly often, but I've not seen it well enough to identify it (I have the audubon book and one other book on garden birds).
Tonight as it got dark I watered everything (takes a lot of hose, and a lot of dragging it, but it beats carrying water in sprinklers or something). I'm still trying to get a sense of how much to water, and I'm probably erring on the side of "not enough water" but not sure yet.
The previous owner left some various tools, and I still want to inventory it all so we can organize what we have, and be sure that the more valuable stuff is better locked up. Our shed isn't really secure, but most of what's in there is stuff that isn't really practical to walk off with (rakes, shovels etc.).
