I love(d) the original version by Van Morrison. It's overplayed and over used (weddings, dedications, etc.) but it's still a really nice love song. It's not my favorite Van Morrison song but it's fine. And I used to actually love it.

You're going to hate me after I tell you this but...

My favorite version of this song is Rod's. :/ Though I love Van Morrison's version, I think the instrumental in the beginning was a little too long. For some reason, songs with long introductory instrumentals irk me.

I remember hearing that song on a LOT as a kid. Trouble is, I don't remember which version we'd listen to! Maybe both.

Yeah, this is a rare case where the remake was so horrendous that it forever altered by opinion of the song itself. It could have been worse. Rod could have butchered "Into the Mystic" which is my all-time fav Van song so at least he steered clear of it.
