Why I'm Up There...

Last October the national entity that is The Moth began having monthly "Story Slams" in Portland. It is basically a storytelling open mic on a monthly theme and the names drawn get 5 to 6 minutes to tell a true story with no script and no notes. The Moth does this in several cities as part of a process that ultimately leads to even winners

A great post, J. From where I am sitting you've been telling stories in a different - but equally effective - voice for many, many years. Your words and stories in LJ have woven among those of many others to create friendships that extended beyond the Internets.

Maybe, just maybe, the years you've spent pouring through words to find the right ones to fill this journal have merely been a training ground for the success you are finding now. Your stories here have been every bit as touching, enlightening, funny and (sometimes) daring as any I've heard/read. You do have a unique voice...and I, for one, am happy to hear it's resonating with others.
