I wish we didn't hold the words so sacred. they are important & sacred, but I feel love for more people than I say it to. And they don't need to be with-held out of fear, they should be shared because sharing is about all we really have with each other. So much of the world is transactional, saying I love you should be our liberation from that and returning to a childlike state of open-ness. I see my boys at 6 and 8 still making those innocent connections with friends and not shying away from it, quite. I've only just started telling them I love them, I was afraid to be perceived as usurping territory belonging to their mom or dad, but I realized that I am quite fond of them and I let them know I had discovered I loved them.
