"I'll see you in another life, brotha."

So, I've been working on this post for about a week. At first it was just going to be a few of my thoughts about the finale. And then it morphed into...lol whatever it is now. It's not really a picspam (there are more words than pics under cut) but it kind of became that. I just kept adding and adding to it. If anyone reads the whole thing ( Read more... )

picspam: lost, tv: lost, picspam, public

I cried at EVERY reunion. Lol. Even Shannon and Sayid's, and EVEN THOUGH as I was crying I was like WTF YOU DID NOT EVEN LIKE THEM THAT MUCH. But Charlie and Claire's scene made me SOBBBBBBBBB. There were one of my first OTPs ever, but I always forget about them for some reason. And Fire and Ice is my least favourite episode too! I always cringe cringe cringe when I watch it, it's like Lost's equivalent of Pascal's Triangle Revisited. LOL, I KID. (MAYBE. NOT REALLY.)

Ugh, basically teared up again in this post. I'm bookmarking this as we speak because that is basically the best recap so far. UGH, LOST, MY HEART, MY SHOW, I WILL MISS YOU.

HAHAHA oh the Community finale wasn't that bad, it at least had it's moments. While watching Fire + Ice during my re-watch a few weeks ago I sat there just going "WHY WHY WHY MAKE IT STOP"
There were other Lost eps (esp during s2 and the first half of s3) that were totally pointless/boring, but this was the only episode that actually made me want to turn it off and erase it from my brain. LOL

OH TEAR! I knew I was bound to like the finale, but I was still a bit worried that something crazy was going to happen that would cheapen the show a bit or cause endless amounts of wank. I'm so glad that wasn't the case.
Although TBH a little bit of wank would have been fun.

I never really expected that the finale was strengthen the whole show as a whole. But that's what it did.

I don't think "The Constant" would have worked (on many levels - in the AU he met Dan - who was neither a scientist nor a wearer of scrunchies - and Penny for the "first" time in 2004) if Des had always been flashing to the afterlife. But yeah, everyone who's being all "I WAS RIGHT THE ISLAND WAS PURGATORY!!!1!!" is a moron. Desmond, Ben, Dan, Richard, Frank, Juliet, et al would not have entered the picture had everyone died in the crash. No one on 815 would have even known each other, making their shared heaven totally stupid. Plus, if you're reading the last shot of the wreckage as a literal thing, you can't ignore the FUCKING FOOTPRINTS around it.

In my graduate lit courses, a fun game we play is reading "dog" as "God."

Oh I don't mean The Constant. Even when I didn't know the AU was after-life I still always thought The Constant was only time-travel.

What I meant about after-life flashing was "Flashes Before Your Eyes" when he's re-living things he's already lived before, only with slight differences. And someone's life "flashing before their eyes" is always associated with pre-death anyway. If that's the case it would be really cool that they thought that far ahead.

But I have to re-watch the episode to really make a decision about it. It might just be time-travel with continuity errors. If he's not flashing to the after-life then the thing with Charlie on the street is a huge continuity error. *shrug* Errors are possible on this show though.

I think that "Flashes Before Your Eyes" was just Prisoner-of-Azkaban style time traveling. Des could really only do the things that he'd already done.

Something that I haven't noticed people picking up on is the way in which, at the end, everyone is transported somewhere else in a final flash of light. That's some significant symbolism on this show.

On my facebook I have some pics up of me and my friend who looks like Charlie lol.

Yea, I figured. It's just sad because now there's obvious continuity errors. Oh well.

Well, the "light" represents life and death too so it makes sense. Although it's possible they didn't go anywhere and were transported to "peacefulness".

It's funny how Desmond's grander purpose was very different than from what most people supposed.

And I find it interesting that it's so different front what DESMOND supposed. He seemed so full of purpose that I figured he knew what he was doing, but NOPE. He was as clueless everyone else!

But, yeah, I think he did still need to be down there to uncork the light. He was still special.

It's interesting that Penny was there since she's the only one that's never set foot on the island (of course she had to be there for Desmond though).

At least not during the show. I like to imagine she, Desmond and baby Charlie drop by from time to time to visit Hurley and Ben. ;)

But I do appreciate that despite their differences, there is this kind of "respect" between them now. And they were both very important to each other.

And, much like with Kate, I appreciate that, in the end, the women between them didn't matter. Their differences weren't about the quad. Who knows? Maybe they're double-dating in heaven!

LOL and isn't it funny that after ( ... )

LOL at the end of the day I think we just have to accept that literally everyone is clueless about everything.

Aw maybe! They can stay at Hurley's candidate hotel. It would be nice to replace all of Desmond's bad memories of the island with good ones.
And I think Hurley would be really touched that Desmond named his son after Charlie too.

HAHA Sawyer/Juliet and Kate/Jack are totally double dating in heaven!

but I don't think anyone considered that "it worked" also referred to the AU!
Yea, I thought it worked meant "the bomb worked". I never considered that it was actually just part of the same coffee-conversation. Especially because before she died Juliet said, "I have something important to tell you". Although looking back that could have just been "I love you".

And maybe she falls for him in the afterlife. Maybe that's part of her journey. ( ... )

Haha! Which I finally DO accept. Lost was never going to have the character who drops by and says, "Okay, now I'm going to explain everything to you."

Especially because before she died Juliet said, "I have something important to tell you". Although looking back that could have just been "I love you".

Or maybe, like Desmond, she DID think it worked?

Oh yeah, I think I heard that about the writer's strike, too. Ah well! I liked them, but I'm content to leave them where they ended up. I guess they didn't really need to make it MORE tragic, lol.

Ooh, I can't remember if I heard her say that. I also liked what Josh Holloway said (from here):

I had a chance to ask Josh Holloway about the finale’s final ‘shipper pairings. Was he happy that Sawyer and Juliet found each other in the Island afterlife? “Absolutely,” he says. “And it leaves Jack and Kate to find each other again-as they always should have. I feel like Kate and ( ... )

Maybe! I think when Miles heard "it worked" he only heard her last thoughts, which were of the vending machine conversation. But she definitely could have meant "There's a place where we're happy and together again" when she told Sawyer she had something important to say.

Yea, just because Sawyer/Kate were in love at one time doesn't mean it has to last forever. Like Ted/Robin were in love at one time, Bill/Sookie were in love at one time (past-tense in the books), Dawson/Joey were too. And even though I don't personally ship those pairings I would never say they weren't in love, and that it didn't mean something for their characters.

He wasn't going to suddenly switch back to Kate when she returned to the island.Especially not after Juliet died! This whole season whenever someone said "Who will Kate choose?" it sounded crazy. Either she would be with Jack or she wouldn't be with either of them. There was no way she was getting back with Sawyer ( ... )

SAWYER/JULIET!!! I cried on and off through out the whole episode but their scene is what hit me the hardest. Guh, just everything about it... ♥

LOL While watching the episode I said to my best friend, "I totally ship Miles & Richard now." I assumed I would be the only one but everyone is all over that. LOL It's great. And I can just imagine them buying that mansion together and having Frank over for dinner...haha <3333

I'll miss Lost so VERY much. It is still sinking in that it is really gone. :(
