Kara had known just by the way Lee started penning the first line, laboriously neat, that he had no idea of what the next line was, or anyway of getting to the solution at all.
I love this. So Lee, and so especially Lee dealing with Kara. And in a literal sense, it shows how well, how instinctively, she knows him.
"So I had to leave him. He deserves better. He deserves someone who isn't going to take out her own shit on him."
I loved the split second fake-out of this line, how Kara starts out talking about Sam but is immediately talking about Lee.
She remembers something from Hilcher’s physics class: the product of vectors moving perpendicularly is zero - nothing. This line makes me so sad for them. I really didn't much enjoy this part of season 3. I think I was watching about three episodes a night on DVD to try to find some K/L interaction ( ... )

I found Kara hard to watch during this period - not because of the lack of K/L, but because it was awful to watch her self-destructing and no one noticing except to condemn her, without anyone thinking to get her some help. It was nice that this fic addressed that, with Helo's unobtrusive concern and Lee making her talk to someone.I know! I felt so bad for her, seriously! I was just like "... what? Why is everyone so angry at her and not trying to help?!" I realise that she was being horrible, but nobody tried to find out WHY she was. Sure, Kara's not an easy person to drag answer out of but surely someone could have thought that her actions were symptoms of a bigger problem? I really had issues with that in the show. As I'm sure you can tell ( ... )

I've been a BSG fan since 2006 but never read fan fic until the last couple of months. (Daybreak has apparently made it necessary for me to read every good pilots fic out there to ensure the healing process... I'm not sure what that says about my obsession w/ this fictional pairing...)
I discovered fahye's fic not so long ago and spent several nights devouring her entire fic list. She is a wonder. What you've done here, w/ a fic I already enjoyed, is just delicious. The expansion of depth and feeling and how I feel as if I am right there in Kara's head, understanding her complicated emotions and feeling her pain. Amazing characterization, truly. You deserve some praise and apparently I am here to provide. Some of my fav lines:

Bam. Perfect first line. Right out of the gate; awesome.
She’d missed flying; on New Caprica, it had been a dull ache, like pressing a bruise that hadn’t fully faded. With ( ... )

fahye's a fantastic writer in everything that she does. It was daunting remixing her, but I'm lucky that she's such a good friend.
Lee so driven and hell bent on being correct and Kara being brash and protective and reckless w/ her own reputation in defense of his.
This is what I adore about Academy pilots. I realise that that whole idea has been jossed, but ... I don't care? I love thinking of them together while they were at the Academy, because they would have been these insane opposites who made such a good team, drove all their lecturers crazy and Lee would have spend heaps of time totally exasperated but secretly loving that Starbuck hung out with him. I think, anyway. :D
Thank you so much for such a fantastic comment. You really made my day!

Plus, I hated Kara's end. This helps.

I hated her end, too. In fact, I'm pretty much in denial! I'm just ignoring basically the second half of S4 on, and pretending it never happened!
I love your icon.
