WHO: Christine Chapel; Jim Kirk (OPEN/INCOMPLETE) WHAT: Kirk relies on Chris's talented hands. Y'know. To treat his cut. WHEN: After taking off from the starbase. WARNINGS: None as of yet. ( Doctor, doctor, gimme the news, I gotta... )
Kirk felt kinda queasy when he felt the first prick of a needle through his skin, patching him up efficiently...but he had never liked needles. Needles were worse than hyposprays. Luckily, he'd been given a pain reliever and a numbing agent, but he could still feel the sharp instrument pull through his flesh and sew him up neatly.
As far as Bones was concerned -- Kirk could be protective. Being his best friend gave him the right, and Kirk just wasn't sure that Chris knew just what she was in for. Bones was an awesome kind of guy, trustworthy and good to go to, despite however gruff he was about how he handled things. Kirk knew enough about The Ex to want to make sure that Chris didn't accidently treat him the same way -- didn't take him for granted. Because Bones deserved a hell of a lot more than that. Kirk finally opened his eyes when she spoke again, making a pointed attempt not to look at his hand.
"I'm not implying that you will treat him wrong, or anything," He murmured, hoping that hadn't come out wrong. "Just saying he's

She nodded as if she understood, and didn't press further, which Kirk was kind of thankful for. Concern wasn't really a good look for him, and did weird things to his reputation as a jerk who didn't really care about much of anything. Kirk listened to her as she spoke about becoming a nurse, going right into the Academy to join Starfleet

"Of course it's believable." Kirk grinned as she finished up his hand -- it didn't hurt, that much, and luckily she had finished it perfectly, the stitches all lined up neatly. He almost flexed his hand when she cleaned it again, but the pain returned soon enough and Kirk decided against trying to break the bonds of the thread that held the wound together.
A lot of people knew about it, especially now. After he had returned to Earth, it was all people could talk about -- he was George Kirk's son. He had done his father proud. He was the greatest captain so far since his father. And he had survived. But Kirk was glad to be like his parent he never really knew, so long as it meant he was nothing at all like his stepfather, he was proud of that. Kirk exhaled slowly as she cleaned the blood again, and wrapped his hand in gauze, effectively stopping any of the bleeding

"Two weeks," He repeated, almost saying it with annoyance. It was his left hand, so nothing too major reflected upon it, but it was an injury nonetheless that was mostly minor and annoying. Kirk stopped flexing it when she grabbed hold of it, inspecting it closely and making certain it was alright.
He kind of liked having her fuss after him, looking his hand over and admiring her handiwork. "So when do you usually work, anyway?" He said in a rather teasing voice, really, he wasn't TRYING to flirt, it just came so very naturally that he never thought to filter it out. That, and she had been much gentler than McCoy had ever been. "You did such a fine job that I could only hope that the next time it's dressed they do half as well."
At that questioning look, the raise in her eyebrows, Kirk knew that he really did have to lay off the charm a little. He couldn't help it around pretty ladies, single, taken, married...it happened, but Christine Chapel was way, way off-limits and Kirk knew he needed to stop before he pushed a little further. He'd learned his lessons a few times about flirting with guy's girlfriends, and -- hell, when it was his own best friend, it just seemed like a bastard thing to do
