AN: AU Becker/Connor Regency romance of many clichés and unlikely shenanigans. Continues from here. Connor has run away. Becker and Lester wait and worry.

Dark had long fallen and the candles burned half their lengths. Becker turned from the window and found Lester’s gaze on him.

“This is London not the Peninsula,” said Lester. “There are no enemies lurking.”

“There’s danger enough. And Connor’s no soldier.”

“Nor is he a child. He’s impulsive not incapable.”

“He’s in trouble,” insisted Becker, running his hands through already-mussed hair. “It’s been three days.”

“We’ve searched every inn between here and Windsor.” Lester’s voice betrayed his unease. “If Connor’s not hiding there’s something we’ve overlooked.”

Becker sighed and resumed watching the shadowed street. “I just want him safe.”
