And... by the sound of it... your speaking up may have been the tipping point that causes the company to take steps to solve what may have been a -bigger- problem than they were aware of.
It is so good and so important for you to have spoken up about this issue. Her behavior was beyond unprofessional.
I am proud of you, and look forward to hearing how this shakes out.
I wonder what is wrong with her. Like, is she really this off-kilter, or is something so broken in her life and over which she feels such a lack of control that she is making the poor choice to express her angst in the workplace.
I have no idea. I have picked up from scuttlebut an impression that she is generally not a happy person, and that her attitude has long been a problem. I'm not sure whose idea the shift in her schedule was, but I know that part of it was meant to ease burnout. Which is definitely in play.
I was shocked to learn that she treats her superiors the same way.
And I shared with the AND one thing that a director said to me, that he brought up without me ever mentioning her.
It will be weird and empowering if somehow my raise-hand-and-say-excuse-me leads to something big. I was SO GLAD they believed me, and it was plain that they do.
it could be (likely is) some sort of mental issue, and if they've noticed it get worse, they really have to say something. if they value her as an employee, she needs a chance to change her ways/get counseling/etc... and if they're looking for a reason to protect themselves from her behavior, well, they need to know what that behavior is.
i'm glad you spoke up and that they're going to actually do something about it (because it doesn't always go that well). yay!

Confrontation sucks. But sometimes it pays.
