42 years ago today, on June 12, 1967, the United States Supreme Court ruled in the matter of Loving v. Virginia, declaring Virginia's ban on interracial marriage unconstitutional and ending all racial marriage restrictions in the U.S.

Government has no business imposing some people’s religious beliefs over others. So true!
I don't know if this will be any comfort to you, but just last month my native country of Sweden made its marriage laws gender neutral by an overwhelming majority, see for example this BBC article. One day people will look back and find it as unbelievable that someone thought they had the right to legislate what sex somebody else could marry as we today think it is weird that people used to think they could legislate what race somebody else was allowed to marry. I hope that day comes soon, but I truly believe it will come.
