I had a tumor removed. Luckily it was benign, but still...ouch! And the weird part is it was in my neck so I was totally NOT expecting all this ear damage.
I was glad to have the surgery well before the wedding though, as I am sure you can imagine!
The feeling will come back..eventually. :) I still have sections of my stomach that are partially numb from my c section. Whenever they cut nerve tissue it's always interesting! I used to try to see how deep I could pinch and get feeling. Anyway!!
hi, hope you dont mind me commenting here (i found your journal through wedding plans) but i've just found exactly the same thing on my neck, well i actually found it over a year ago but the doctors kept saying it was a swolen lymph node and not to worry about it... finally a doctor took me a bit more seriously and i was at the hospital yesterday for a 'second opinion' from the ENT people. but they still dont know what it is and now i gotta go for a scan in a few weeks time to see how big it is etc... not realyl sure if i've got a question or anything... well except, what was the operation like? are you ok now? feeling back in your ear etc? sorry... i'm just a bit scared now :o(
Wow! Crazy! It seems to be more common than we might think... I have actually encountered a few people to have the exact same thing, believe it or not.
Six months later, the scar has healed up pretty well but my ear is still quite numb. My earlobe in fact, is still 100% numb. I never take my earring out of that ear because I don't want to touch it, ever. The doctor told me I would probably never regain feeling in my lobe... the rest of the ear has sporadic feeling. I can hear fine... it's really not that big a deal. Just sort of annoying. When people lean in to hug me, I always try to lean in on my other side so the sides of our heads don't bump!
The operation was over pretty quickly. The worst part was just being nervous leading up to it! I was out of work for 1 week and sore for... a few weeks.
It is ok, though... I am not in pain or anything (anymore!).
I found your journal after I replied to your request for a writing lesson in second grade teachers. I just finished reading about your ordeal. Honestly, it grounded me a little. I was just diagnosed with PCOS, and I've been sulking all week about poor little me. My thoughts are with you.

I actually am feeling a LOT better than I did at the beginning, thanks. I can't wait to be 100% again.

I get totally freaked OUT touching the numb parts! So far I really can't bring myself to do it... usually it is by accident!
