I like pomegranites as much as the next person (pretty red seeds, tart juice that mixes very nicely with a citrus vodka? What's not to like?), but seriously--pomegranite Tootsie Pops? I know it's one of the hot foods right now (and hey, at least they're not making noni juice Pops (whatever the hell noni juice actually is. All I know is it cures ( Read more... )

Yup. http://www.tootsie.com/products.php?pid=168

Our office manager picked up a bag for the front-desk candy dish. It said "New Flavors Inside!" The only new flavor in that bag is the pomegranite, but apparently they're making banana, strawberry, and blue raspberry now too. Banana sounds a little disturbing. I think I'll just stick to orange and cherry, which are the good flavors.

No no... the good flavors are cherry and grape. For some reason, these are the ones that meld well with the chocolate1 taffy.

Hmm. I should buy a bag and experiment on people.

What alyska said about banana. Artificial banana flavor is disgusting.

It wasn't a bad tootsie pop--a bit tarter than most, but I didn't get a lot of pomegranite flavor.

And I think that "WTF Tootsie Pop" is going to be my newest catch phrase. It just rolls off the tongue.

I tried it and didn't care for it. I really like the new Lime ones however.

The evil influence of Michael Pollan's writing (In Defense of Food, The Omnivore's Dilemma) now has me suspicious whenever ANY specific health claims are made about ANY new food or ingredient in food. The fun of fashionable magic ingredients is that they can be added to ANY manufactured food, rendering it magically fashionably healthy. But how do you add Omega-3 or oat bran or whatever to a banana or some lettuce?
