I just recently found some research that claims video-gamers find there keys faster than non-gamers. The idea is video-game players eyes are more accustomed to scanning a room than a non-gamer. I'd say Resident Evil has been good training for this. Too bad in real life the specific key you're looking for isn't sparkling as well as colored differently than the pre-rendered background on which it sits.
