America...why not?

Jul 12, 2005 17:31

So, there's a few people who're interested in leaving America and moving to Europe because it's "so much better there." Well, lets look at things this way. In Europe, there's no such thing as the freedom of the press. So your railing about the Washington Times toting the government line would only increase, as anything that goes to press in Europe ( Read more... )

who are you referring to who wants to leave america and is staying here? cause this sounds more like a sean hannity talking points memo than a response to what people are saying.

And im talking about real people, not moveon.org hippies

Umm steve, the taxes aren't 5 dollars a gallon for gas. you know why it's that high? cause they don't want cars on the road that much-they have awesome public transportation so why do they need to hurt the environment and waste gas for people who don't really need it anyway-that's why it's 5 dollars a gallon ( ... )

Maybe if you'd read my editorial about immigration and not listened to what your little friends told you it was about, you'd realize that my article was against illegal immigration, not immigration in general. And as far as the gas tax goes, sorry, I misread the source. The price of a gallon ranges from 5-6 dollars, which is still a LOT more than we spend. Tim, this is in response to Susan and Katie's urges to run away. Don't knock me because I'm a patriot, Kelsey, show me the shame in it. I'm not saying Europe is shit and should go away, I'm well aware of the fact that we have allies there. The fact that they're our allies doesn't mean that they're not misguided in their governmental policies.

some things over there really are better, some things are not, it's simply a life choice some people make. it wouldn't be yours, obviously, but let them make that decision based on their experiences there. how many times have you been to europe? i've been there 4 times, and there are some places i would love to live in. the lifestyle is different over there, and for some, that kind of lifestyle, w/ all it's bad, is better than what they experience here. don't bash what you haven't experienced.

This is also my journal, where I'll rant about whatever tickles my fancy, remember? In case you didn't notice, it's my opinion that I state here, backed up by...hey, FACTS, imagine that. I'm just saying that I doubt people who were born and raised here will truly find Europe to be quite what they expected. I make no claim to be an expert on Europe, but I do know how to listen to what others who are such experts say.

and once again, you don't need to be an ass to make a point. i'm just saying that some people gp tp europe an fall in love w/ it. the lifestyle, the culture and everything is just so different, it's amazing. for some, what they saw over in germany or wherever in the europe showed them a life they would prefer over what they have here. whether or not they actually make that jump due to practical reasons, is up to them. seriously, you can't make a judgement as to whether europe is liveable or not by facts you've researched, it's an emotional thing, how living over there makes one feel as opposed to living over here. i noticed you didn't answer my question as to how many times you've been to europe, but in case you haven't, then you really can't understand what it's like over there from simple facts. personally, i love switzerland. it's a land of quiet beauty and low pollution and wonderful chocolate ;-) i also love austria, and i could definitely see myself living in salzburg. it's an amazing city, and having been there three ( ... )

KK, you go ahead and think whatever you want to. My point was that actually living in Europe is another thing from visiting it. I've got no problem with European culture, in fact, I'd rather like to go and experience it. But my issue was not with European culture. It was with being a European citizen. But y'know, whatever you want to think, KK. If you think I'm an ass, thats your call. Like I said, I can keep debates on silly journals seperate from real life. But can you?
