Doctor update

Feb 08, 2008 11:28

I took Owen to the doctor, and based on what Steve's symptoms were, he thinks Owen might have the flu! I asked Steve if he thought he had the flu, and he said that he had flu-like symptoms, but because he's on allergy meds, it doesn't blow up into the full thing. The pediatrician wrote a prescription for Tamiflu, but I'm hesitant to have it ( Read more... )

Aww I was hoping it was just something minor. Maybe watch him and see how he does and if by tomorrow he's still feeling bad give him the meds. Go with your gut you seem to be doing the right thing.

When you want to default a post to friends only right above where you post it says public and there is a down arrow thing to friends only.

Thanks!

If I choose the dropdown menu, don't I have to select that with every post? I thought there was something you could type somewhere that automatically made all your posts friends only.

I'd probably wait and see how he feels tomorrow. It's really complications from the flu that is the worry, so if a)you'r enot convinced he even has the flu and b)isn't showing too much distress, I'd just try to keep him hydrated and happy :D Nursing is great for time slike this, especially once you've been exposed!

Thanks! I ended up giving him a dose last night, because there is only a 48-hour window that you can start it, but he seems to be doing much better today.

Tamiflu won't hurt him, even if he doesn't have the flu. It isn't that strong of a medicine. Friends of mine gave it to their toddler when the dad got sick, and the kid didn't get sick nor did he have a problem with tamiflu.

That makes me feel a lot better, because it says not to give it to children under the age of 1.

If I were you I wouldn't fill the rx. Just let it run its course.

Thanks! I ended up filling it, but held off until the last minute to give it to him.

I'd keeep an eye on him. Don't be afraid to fill it if you see he's getting worse.

Why don't you think it's the flu?

I don't know, I guess my bad mommy instincts said it wasn't the flu. I'm still not convinced that it is, but I'm not terribly familiar with the flu, since I've had it all of like 3 or 4 times in my life. He did have the fever though, so maybe it was.
