I don't remember how old I was when I read 'The Hobbit'. I do remember how much I enjoyed stepping into another world. I can't have been out of primary school, certainly - 7? 8

I was traumatised by that 1970s carton travesty (Ralph Bakshi was the guilty party, I believe). It probably wasn't so bad, but right then I was living in Middle Earth in preference to trying to deal with a ... difficult ... adolescence.
When we went to see Fellowship of the Ring in 2001 I was a bundle of nerves. If Mr Jackson screwed it up, I would have walked out. But he didn't. It took me a little longer than you (Moria, in fact), but I too had the 'yes!' moment.
