This is painful, but it's beautifully done. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be in Sherlock's position but John being there, and bothering to look for and read the small signs of communication and actually care about what's going on inside, clearly means a great deal. And - that ending!

Thank you! I can only think being in such a condition, for Sherlock, would be absolutely agonizing- The way he absolutely resents boredom in the series, and then to put that mind in a body that no longer listens to him? I can't even imagine, either, except for how grateful he'd be to have John not treat him as an invalid.
