[Another day, and Riku's feeling fairly bored. He hasn't had a lot to say over the journals as of late, but hey, it's been a while. And with such an... interesting cycle, he might as well say something.

So, Lucetians, witness Riku as he boredly looks into this magical book and speaks.]So. I think it's pretty obvious that Luceti's got some ' ( Read more... )

[This is the sort of question that always drives Robert to want to answer it.

Still, his voice is awkward and uncomfortable, as it generally is.]

... On T-Terra, all sapients are... on equitable footing.

The sheer diversity of h-hominid forms here is... very fascinating, compared to my own... m-multiverse.

[Robert nods a little to himself. Good. Somebody needs to be investigating that sort of thing.]

The fact that it is... a n-natural phenomenon suggests it is a controllable, and likely r-reversible, process. At least in theory...

... Though of course I w-would not have the slightest idea where to begin an investigation into it...

It's reversible. At least, my friend turned into a Heartless, and he changed back.

Thing is, I doubt it's easy.

... Do you mean something that... o-occurred here in Luceti? Or back at home?

[Because to think of it happening in Luceti is pretty fascinating. And Robert is pretty ignorant to village goings-on...]

It happened 'back home,' in a world called Hollow Bastion. I didn't see it firsthand, but it'd be pretty obvious if he hadn't changed back.

There is a physical d-difference, something... tangible, so to speak, when this occurs...?

[... That's rare. So far Robert hasn't seen any major physical differences resulting from paranormal things. Not that there aren't any.]

That's putting it lightly. Most Heartless look nothing like humans.

[Here, he'll do a doodle to give a rough idea of what a Shadow Heartless looks like. It's not an amazing work of art, but it gets the point across.]

Here's an example. Shadows are the most common form of Heartless.

[Well.

It's kind of adorable.]

Form...? So they are not so much a s-species as... a modification...

... What causes the... variation? [The mun officially apologizes for having to ask so many questions that push canon. Robert just would not leave this alone.]

I'd say they're a bit of both. Heartless are just hearts consumed by darkness, so they're not exactly organic. Some are solid black, like that Shadow, and others wear armor or take on different forms, like gargoyles and monkeys.

I don't know the exact cause for variation, but what I do know is that a lot of Heartless have emblems on them. Shadows, Darkballs, and Darksides don't.

[All is well!]

[Robert listens to all of this quietly, jotting down the information to himself. It's all extremely fascinating to him - that there are different variations, that this is almost like a metamorphosis brought on by emotional triggers, that there are emblems and markings...]

... I b-believe I understand why you... are comfortable with species variation, if this is... common, on your planet. Or, er, planets...? [He had mentioned "worlds" after all.]

It's plural. I haven't even been to my world in ages.

Not since it got swallowed by darkness, anyway.

... Worlds can be swallowed in darkness...? [... This darkness is a pretty big deal then.

... Geez.]

...

I presume that... th-this is, er, not a habitable world anymore...?

Nah, it's fine now. Sora closed the door to Kingdom Hearts, so all the worlds that did get destroyed were restored.

Ah, I see...

... Your world has... s-such fascinating properties. Some of the most unique I have... h-heard of, thus far. And I have been here for... seven months, now...

[Granted, it's not that long, but hey.]

Unique and kind of complicated, especially if you're not used to them. Plus, all roads lead back to the heart. It's probably the most important piece of anything.

Even worlds have them.

... how does an entire world have a heart...? [Maybe it's a collective? Still, Robert is beyond confused. Kingdom Hearts world physics are so strange...]
