[The next day, WHENEVER THAT WAS AS MUN HAS LOST TRACK, Kazahana went about her business but didn't get involved with any pressing errands. Lin would find her when she was good and ready, and Kazahana didn't want to have to break a commitment for one she'd already made. And she would go--aside from her word, she remembered what had happened when Truth had followed a map. This didn't seem like the same thing, but it was good to be wary.]

Lin showed up a little after lunch, hoping she wouldn't interrupt anything, and used shunpo only to get a bit closer, but walked for a good part of the way, so that Kazahana would be aware of her presence a little before she arrived. Obviously, if asked, she was never going to admit having been so considerate of somebody else's personal space. ]
Ready?
[ Greetings weren't needed. Lin pulled the ticket out of her pocket and looked at it for the nth time, before showing it to Kazahana too. ]

Ready. You can lead the way.
[ Thankfully, she'd made sure to keep Sode no Shirayuki strapped into the sheath she carried on her back. Just in case. ]
[ooc: and it's the weekend, so I will commence not sucking at timely tags \o/]

She started off, not as fast as she could have been, to make sure Kazahana could follow. After all, she had no idea how fast the other could be. Now and then Lin glanced at the map in her hand, or looked over her shoulder. Was she supposed to make conversation...? No, no she wasn't. ]

But still, she had. They were from the some world, and acquaintances of a sort. It would weigh on her conscience less this way.]

She stopped only once she reached the edge of one of the floating islands, there was no bridge to connect it with their destination. ]
A problem for you?
[ If Kazahana truly was like her, it shouldn't have been, but Lin asked anyway. ]
Reply
Besides--she had the sense that this could be something of a test. Lin obviously demanded a lot from those she associated with. If Kazahana said it was a problem, she wasn't at all sure Lin wouldn't just go ahead without her.
Luckily, it wasn't. ]
No. It isn't.

[ Lin knew she must have been an officer before being taken away, so, supposedly, she should have been stronger than Kazahana. But as things were, she wasn't too sure-- Kazahana had been there longer, knew more about herself than Lin did. She had her sword, and Lin didn't. It wasn't actually surprising that she wouldn't have any problems leaping through the air.
With a nod, Lin started off, landing on the new island and looking around. She didn't immediately recognize the weird building-- it didn't feel like something familiar, and yet, somehow, she knew more or less what that was, and how it worked. Again, she looked at the ticket in her hand before walking forward and into the building. ]

When she landed beside Lin a moment later, she mimicked the cautious appraisal. This was new to her, too. ]
I've never been here before. But it seems like there are no threats on the surface, at least.

Do you know what kind of place this is?
[ As she asked, Lin walked further into the building, looking for... A door? Something. She had a vague idea of how that sort of places worked, but it was-- yes, vague. ]

[ She was tempted to draw Shirayuki as they venture further in, but resisted the paranoid impulse. But still, something about this place was...eerie. That was the only word for it. ]

Immediately, she walked closer to the wall, and the Memory Crystals lining it. There were more than Lin could count, enough to find out everything about her past life and even more.
What stopped her fingers from immediately starting to touch all of them was remembering that with every Memory Crystal came a punishment. She might have recovered all of her memories, but what would have been the punishment for that?
...And there was a part of Lin that wasn't completely sure she wanted to know. ]
What should I...
[ She was talking more to herself than to Kazahana, but turned to look at her all the same, making sure she wasn't touching anything either. ]

[ This place was even creepier now. All those crystals, those memories, those parts of people...they could be a powerful temptation, or something repellent.
She trailed in Lin's wake, keeping an eye out in case something or someone took advantage of their distraction. You never knew.]
It's up to you, Lin.

She touched one of the crystals, ready to face whatever memory she was about to see and let it swallow them both.
Lin was standing in line, other people dressed just like her by her side. Twenty, maybe two dozens. All of them stood, staring at the ground, waiting for something ( ... )

Which was a ridiculous reaction. Other people had been there; she'd known from her own memory of the occasion that Lin had seen it once, in the time before the sphere. But there it was, nonetheless.
She hadn't known what it would look like from below. She hadn't expected that she'd looked so helpless up there, or so alone.
Kazahana saw Lin turn to her, her eyes burning, and she ducked her head, unable to meet her eyes.]
I didn't want anyone to see that.

No, Lin didn't have any right to feel betrayed. They weren't really friends, were they? They were barely alleys.
But... Kazahana was someone she trusted, if only a little (obviously, otherwise she wouldn't have taken her with her), and now... ]
Let's go away from here.
[ Confused didn't even begin to cover it. And frustrated. The more she collected the pieces of what had been her life before the Sphere, the more she didn't like the picture that was forming.
But none of that showed on her face, or in her voice. She just turned her back to her and started walking, her words to Kazahana sounding very much like an order. ]
