Stitch was awesome in class yesterday.  We were working on Stay, where I had to go out the front door, come in the front door, walk alllllllllllllllll the way the the end of the store, tap the vet office counter, and come back, and he did awesome.  Stayed put the whole time.  This is a dog that makes the trainer look good, cause we've barely worked ( Read more... )

Last weekend, Stitch and I went to a dog show.  And not just any dog show.  The Kentuckiana Cluster All-Breed dog show.

Surprisingly, Kentucky has the largest dog show in the country, a truly massive event where dogs of every size, breed, and color prance about in a little circle to the applause of fanatic hangers-on who follow them from show to ( Read more... )

Okay, I admit it.  I watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua last night.  It was disgustingly cute.  Voice acting was good, the dogs were fabulously well trained, and the whole movie was just a lot of stupid fluffy fun.  Stitch watched it too.  He wagged his tail at the Chihuahuas and barked when the evil Doberman was on screen.  I tell people that, as a ( Read more... )

I'm becoming increasingly unimpressed with our puppy class instructor.  Last night, for our second session, we were supposed to work on "leave it," "down," and "loose leash walking."  Trainer asked how the dogs were doing on sit and watch me; and the other student said her dog "hated" Watch me, to the point that it would bark and growl at her.  The ( Read more... )

Yesterday, Stitch and I attended puppy class at Petsmart.  One might wonder why I, a former Petsmart trainer myself, would pay to take one of their classes.  Mostly for socialization.  Stitch isn't timid, but can be described as shy around new people and dogs.  Getting out every week will be good for him ( Read more... )
