Hi Bel,

Happy Birthday! I'm sure it's a hot day in your part of the world, as it usually is on your birthday. We just had a huge snowstorm in your honor. :)

Hope all is well with you and this year brings less crazy than 2020!

It actually isn't too hot at the moment - quite pleasant actually. I have seen pictures of snow storms in north America, Europe and the UK so I can imagine how your weather is at the moment. I had a nice birthday and was given a shiny new overlocker (serger) as my old one had died on me. Went round to a friends for afternoon tea and (Australian) champagne so had a very civilised day.
My father has had his covid vaccine so that is a relief. It's the more effective one too. He has another month before his second dose. Here we are back down to zero community transmission so life is more or less back to normal. Hopefully, vaccination will allow the rest of the world to get to our position too.

Oh, a new serger! I'm sure you will put it to good use. It sounds like you had a lovely day.

Our province has zero community transmission (knock on wood ) so we can move about freely in modified ways. Vaccination is slow here compared to the UK. I'm glad your dad had it with no issues.

What a strange time we live in!

I wasn't sure how Canada was faring, other than being better off than the US (in so many ways!). I think that you will be like us in that there are such great distances between cities that it is easier to control the spread. In the UK people can live in one city and work in another so there is little chance of containing the virus. (Not helped by incompetent government of course.) Their main asset was being an island but they didn't close the borders so they blew it. Worrying watching it from a distance. My sister-in-law is on chemo so we are all really worried about her. They live in an area with a very high incidence too (eastern outskirts of London).
