Summary: Tracey receives an interesting letter.
Completion: Incomplete.
Tracey was making breakfast for herself when she heard the owl, jumping away from the hob every time the bacon spat. Marcus had taken Violet earlier that morning and Tracey had stayed in bed for a while, a small grin on her face at the lack of noise.
Christmas had been a quiet affair.. Well, as quiet as it could be with a little girl with lungs as healthy as Violet's. The little girl had adored all of her presents and had managed to wear herself out by six, a small miracle for Tracey. She had watched Christmas tv and thoroughly enjoyed it, going to bed around eleven and sleeping in the next day.
She'd thought a lot over the last few days about
Violet's present, not really able to wrap her mind around it yet. Whilst she'd secured the place so only she and Violet could enter and put up a small sign on the wall of the property saying 'Claimed', she had no idea how to go about doing anything else to it. She'd have to find a builder or.. Somebody.
Tracey didn't really know much about building and that sort of thing.
Turning her attention to the owl, she moved the bacon off the heat and rushed to the window, pulling her dressing gown tight around her. She faintly recognised the feathered messenger and let it in, almost smirking as it ruffled its feathers indignantly for making it wait so long.
Pulling the message off of its foot, she was surprised to see it leave right away, the sender obviously wanting no reply. Frowning at that, she ripped open the parchment and quickly read through, her frown getting deeper.
Dear Miss Davies,
We have recently received correspondence from a Miss Hermione Granger who wishes to discuss a matter than your uncle, Mr. Francois Pavoir, would have found extremely interesting. Enclosed is her letter and we hope that you do not hesitate to contact us if you need advice on the matter.
Wishing you seasonal greetings.
Yours Sincerely,
Gerald Gable

Opening the enclosed letter, she looked at it in utter confusion. What did Granger want with her? Was she trying to prosecute her? To punish her from being a Death Eater? Her mind reeled with that possibility and she reached for her arm, tracing the faded scar. Her eyes darted around the room and she assessed what she'd take immediately.. She just needed to find Violet..
Fuck, she was with Marcus.
Taking deep breaths and trying to remind herself that she hadn't been a Death Eater for over a year, she forced the panic into the back of her brain as she started to read the letter. Finding the tone cordial (although she was sure it wouldn't be so cordial if it was addressed to her) she thawed a little, feeling a little more secure.
Granger wanted her books. Or rather.. Her uncle's books. She'd mentioned printing them and selling them and Tracey wasn't sure what her uncle would have thought of that; she didn't know him well enough to know his desires. Still, if she could have a share of the profits.. It could be very profitable.
But she'd promised the books to Blaise. Bugger. She'd just have to seek his opinion on the matter and see what he thought about it. As well as.. Reply to Granger. Much as she didn't want to.
Dear Blaise,
I received an owl via my solicitors around fifteen minutes ago with an enclosed message which had been destined for my deceased uncle. It seems that Granger Hermione Granger is interested in my uncle's library with a view to reprinting some of the books or something like that. I'm a bit shook up about even receiving a letter from her to really process what she's written. I'm sure you can understand my first thoughts upon receiving a letter from her.
Anyway, that's not the point of this letter so much.. Have you heard anything about why she wants to do this and who else she has approached? It's all news to me but then I don't really socialise much as you know.
I assume that you also know that I meant what I said before Christmas and any of the books that you want or need are yours.
Yours,
Tracey
Granger Dear Miss Granger,
First off, may I say how surprised I was to receive your letter; I had no idea you were interested in my uncle's library nor that you were in correspondence with him. As I believe he would have been interested in your scheme, I would like to talk more about your plans to reprint books as I'm rather ineducated in such matters.
I must warn you that I have promised my books to Blaise Zabini, an old classmate of mine. Rare texts hold no charms for me and I'm sure he'll find a use for them; he was always far more interested in such things at school than I. However, I'm sure that the two of you could work together if you had a common interest and that saving books would probably interest him if he's still the man I remember.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours Sincerely,
Miss Tracey A. Davis
