When Cedric had arranged to meet with Ernie the previous Friday, he hadn't expected things with Katie to change quite so quickly. He'd planned to ask Ernie whether he should talk to Katie about his changing feelings, then everything had spilled out to Katie on Sunday after all. If what he and Katie had was still new-born and fragile -- and if he still had some questions of his own -- he no longer felt so off-kilter.
That didn't mean he minded a chance to talk about her. He'd been keeping his mouth shut all week and was about to bubble over with his own joy. He walked down to the 5 Alarm from the museum after work. He'd owled Ernie to meet him there instead of Socks. Katie sometimes ate at Socks and this was one time he actually didn't want to accidentally run into her.
