My phone got soaked in a downpour the other night and is totally dead, so I lost all my numbers. So, if you want me to have your number, please send it to me... stompyboy at gmail dot com. Or if any of you have an old Verizon-compatible phone handy that I could have or borrow, that'd be super awesome

One thing I do is to keep a couple of Ziplocs in a pocket of my bag. If I get caught in a downpour, I duck under an awning somewhere and stash my phone, iPod, and wallet in a sealed baggie. The rest of my shit gets wet, but at least I salvage the expensive stuff, you know?

I'll look for a spare phone when I go to my folks this weekend. They might have donated it to a church campaign, but if they didn't, they can always do that once you're done with it.

The nice this, my messenger bag is 100% waterproof, but my phone was in the little phone pouch on the strap. I figured it was safe in there, cause as I'm leaning over, it didn't seem that the front of me was getting wet. But apparently I was wrong. Dammit.

note: talking on your cellphone while in the shower is also not a good way to keep it dry.

Well, luckily, my new phone is water-proof, so I could talk in the shower if I wanted.
Actually, I talked on my old phone in the shower on more than one occaison. One time I was in the shower and dropped and broke a glass eyelet, my phone was on the edge of the sink, and I called the shop to see if they had anything in my size while I was still in the shower.
