Looks like a one-eyed monster.

It does~ With a spaded devil tail. How whimsical. I didn't know dwarves were so artistic. Only dwarves I ever ran into were jewel miners. [... Wait, they were? Huh. Funny the things you don't realize you forgot you remembered. Sort of.]

Maybe they're warning about something.

Oh yeah? [Hey, someone else knows dwarfs. That's quite nice, actually.] Mining is what they typically do, though the ones I know are mostly concerned with gold.

There's at least one in the Park. Northwestern area, if I remember right.

All right, I think I know the area you're talking about. Thanks for the tip.

I do not recognize it--a sign of darkness?

I think so. That's what most minesigns are, but dwarfs like darkness. They think that light is unholy... no, that's not the right word, dwarfs aren't religious. Thing is, they don't like the light. But some darkness is considered to be bad. I'm trying to figure out which this one is.

How... curious. My own instinct is to think of darkness itself as something to be fought against. It seems strange that there would be a culture that shuns light in favor of it.

I can't say I understand it too well myself. It's all a bit mystic to me. They live underground and work in mines, so the traditional dwarfs never actually see the light. They've got masks and cloaks if they need to go above ground.

[Rosalind's back to normal, but even an amnesiac amnesiac Rosalind would probably react the same way.]

It looks like an eye, and the tail looks like an arrow. Maybe it's guiding you to something. What do the other ones look like?

[He draws the Long Dark and the Following Dark from here.]

They all look a bit similar. That one on the left is the Long Dark, which just means 'mine', and the one on the right is the Following Dark, which means something bad's happened or is about to happen. There's probably hundreds of them, but I only know a few.

They look a little like what they're supposed to be. The diagonal lines might be following each other, so the first one could be...the Pointing Dark? The Guiding Dark?

I don't know what that would mean, though.

They do, yeah.

[TAPTAPTAPTAPTAP.]

It all probably means something a bit different in dwarfish, but I only know a few words. [Like, "Stop, thief!". This stuff isn't in the equation.] This is the only one I know that looks a bit alive.

Perhaps it is a warning of what is up ahead! There is a small force camped that way, be wary!

I have not seen any lilac trees.

That seems plausible, but every time I see it around, the arrow's always drawn the same way.

Could it be a moving threat? Or perhaps it is taken out of context to be written here. I would think the arrow would be important, but my world and yours are very different so I do not know. I am sorry that I could not be of more help, sir.

That's fine, Gai, I wasn't expecting you to know what it means. I just figured it was worth a shot, considering I can't be the only one who knows dwarfs.
