Maka stands there quietly as she waits for someone else to answer his question. Usually, she'd be the one with her first hand raise -- but she knows almost close to nothing about swords. Looks like she can't be the teacher's pet in this class, at least maybe not until she knows the rope of things.

Ed supposed he shouldn't be surprised there were actual names for the parts of a sword, but he'd always been more concerned about how they were physically structured than what to call each bit. And most of the time he'd only ever made a blade rather than a whole sword. Still, he figured he should at least hazard a guess. At best, he'd be right, at worst, he'd be told the correct answer.

"Hilt?"

She turns her head towards Edward's direction. He knows about swords? This is news to her. After almost two years of knowing him, she had never seen him with one at all. And somehow, this sadness her a bit. Come to think of it, she doesn't know... that much about him besides his automail arm and he has a short temper.

It makes her wonder if she counts as one of his best friends or not despite knowing so little.

He glanced over at Maka and grinned. Spend enough time around the army and maybe a few things rub off.

"Bit different from a scythe, huh?"

"You got it!" Shiro exclaimed joyfully, as if his faith in the class was miraculously restored by that one word. He'd return to the front of the classroom, moving onto another slide depicting stance and how one must handle a sword.
