Who: Tali, Garrus and Shepard. What: Briefing Tali on the Purists and such. When: Today! Early evening. Where: Garrus and Shepard's apartment. Warnings: No warnings.
Tali perked up a bit once she saw Garrus there. Must have decided to drop in. Never does it once occur to her that the two might be living together. She'd address him in a moment, though, turning to Shepard.
Well, she certainly had that Shepard 'feel' about her. Very much a leader, but a personable one. Acted like the one she knew, too. Mostly. She'd hug her, but... yeah. Still a wee bit awkward. Not enough that she shies away, though, coming into the room proper.
"Well, a little. I wasn't aware of how big this place was. It's almost like the Citadel."
"It's got the same political charm too," Garrus scoffs offhandedly, although he doesn't say anything else.
Seeing Tali there in person, however, does take the usual edge out of his voice. Deep inside, he didn't doubt Shepard's team and their ability to appear on board the ship, and surely, one by one, they were making it. However, Tali seemed like some sort of milestone, their history and time together adding a nostalgic flair to her arrival.
Shepard had the urge to continue forward to hug the quarian, but she senses the awkwardness in the air and it kept her feet planted in their current location. At least, for now.
Her arms come up to cross over her chest and her weight is put on the backs of her thighs as she leans back slightly, her hip popping out to the side in a relaxed manner. Shepard nods in agreement about the ship being similar of the Citadel and then her eyes dart over to Garrus after his comment.
"It is like the Citadel in many ways. Just like Garrus said, There's also a lot of bad aspects to it as well, unfortunately." Her eyes were still on Garrus until her attention shifted back over to Tali.
"Always with the bad." Tali sighs, starting to pace back and forth a bit restlessly, lookig back and forth between the two of them from behind her mask.
"So, what's the problem? One of the usual suspects? Mercenaries? Backroom politics? Some crazy biotic cult? Geth?" whatever it was, though, it must be serious if Shepard wasn't currently on his/her way to put several hundred bullets into the problem.
"Backroom politics mostly," Garrus answers, plopping back onto the couch casually.
"To put it shortly, we're dealing with a group that calls themselves the Purists. As the name suggests, they're obsessed with ousting the refugee population on the ship. Something about how the Thor is meant for the civilians, and how us refugees do nothing but leech the system and kick their pets."
Without thinking, he rests a foot on the table next to his Guide, the other following shortly. When in his own space, keeping an air of formality was difficult and just plain unwanted.
"There's a group of us who've been fighting back, though. Trying to nab information whenever we can, just trying to cover any and all angles we can. Buuuuut... we ran into a bit of a rough spot recently. They've stepped up their game and know who a few of us are. You can imagine how well that's been going for us."
