Quite the sad little find that. I confess curiosity on how it must have passed on - mice tend to go out in the open to die, away from the nest (at least in my experience).
By the way, I am assuming that you are visiting your parents right now, so therefore your brakes went on you while you were on your trip? Are you ok? No accidents I hope??
Well, that is the interesting thing: this place I found to live in is in the same neighborhood as my parents' house. Amazing! So, instead of going to "my" house after minimal-but-necessary errands this morning, I just went to my parents' and let my father know that my car Required Help. Poor Dad. No rest for you on this day, oh ye of mechanical skills and generosity! At least it wasn't snowing or raining. And I can walk home
( ... )
I am okay, and no accidents. Thank you! The brakes continued to function well enough, but without the pad and springs it scraped the dickens out of the rotor (which had to be replaced -- not cheap, darn it).
Heh...fortunately driving truck has provided me with all SORTS of useful vehicle management knowledge, such as what to do when your breaks decide to start grinding in traffic. Slow down, allow lots of stopping distance, and use the engine brake if weather conditions allow. Wait -- no engine brake in a car? Darn!
Your empathy is one of the things I like best about you. And your thoughtfulness. And your ability to see things from unusual angles. This is a prime example. *hugs*
