[Well, Captain Aubrey has been in Luceti one night, arrived by the good will - or not - of Captain Sparrow and Lieutenant Kennedy and survived by the grace of Captain Hornblower's hospitality. Hazzah

I would prefer to home to here, sir, I must say.
[Hornblower is keeping up with the other captain due to long, even strides.
With only his clothes and Mr. Kennedy's to raid, finding anything to fit the much larger Captain Aubrey had proven, at best, difficult. Even clothes too large for him had suited the other man poorly.
Still, with the shops of Luceti, if they could not find Aubrey's clothes, they could likely find something that would fit him much better.]

[He hums musingly as he peers into a window, brought down by the thought. His ship and crew never left his mind but with the strange new things he was suddenly surrounded with, the novelty of it all came close to over-shadowing the never-ending dread in his belly. Which, clearly, could be solved with food. Lots, and lots, of food.]
As would I, sir, as would I. But it seems we're rather strung up, eh?
[....He means 'have our hands tied behind our back'. But whatever.]
You mentioned that we might be able to produce my uniform, as well?
[action]seventeensirSeptember 12 2011, 22:04:28 UTC
[...Strung...
Horatio is going to nod and half pretend he heard nothing. That phrase unsettles him, certainly, but not enough to complain.]
I was able to acquire mine the first day I went out looking for it. Mr. Kennedy told me that it does sometimes take time, but I hope that it shall be found easily.
Your sword as well.
[That had been his first concern after his uniform, after all.]
[action]straightatemSeptember 13 2011, 01:30:19 UTC
Good, good. I wouldn't like to have that missing as well.
[It was a comfort to know that his sword might be here as well. But he wondered after his violin. And Stephen.]
Tell me, Hornblower, do you it'd be possible that since the clothes on our backs and my sword could be here -- simply waiting -- that other objects could too?
[ give her a moment to outright stare. that's horatio, sure. she recognizes him. who's the guy with him? she slows down as she passes the fountain.
and maybe she clears her throat. and maybe she wrestles with herself for a very long time on whether to say anything at all because hot damn she should just go home and cry some more. that's what she feels like doing.
but buffy summers had long ago resigned herself to rarely ever do what she felt like doing. ]
[...There may even be something like a very, very small spring to Horatio's step.
Not so much for Aubrey's company, not really. He appreciates that, but what has him in such a mood today is the previous evening's conversation with Archie.]
Allow me to introduce you to Captain Jack Aubrey, of His Majesty's Surprise. Captain Aubrey, Miss Buffy Summers.
[Female creature! All at once Jack goes from marveling at all the things he could possibly marvel at; to standing straight and smiling broadly. Once properly introduced, Jack inclined his head in a little shadow of a bow. He seemed to be adjusting to the whole 'wings on your back, strange new world' deal rather well.
The pants she's wearing throw him off a bit though.]
A pleasure to meet you I must say, Miss Summers!
[He seemed to be ignoring how ridiculous he looked in clothes that were a few sizes too small for him. ]
[ a tired little expression before she manages to force out a smile and a pun: ] Well that's a -- hah -- surprise. Or not. Jacks of the captain variety are a welcomed staple of the place.
Hi. And -- God I know Horatio will never stand for it but, please, just call me Buffy.
[He, or it, or whatever, is carrying a bag of groceries and generally being quite normal, aside from the whole huge bipedal reptile thing. When he hears the enthusiastic comment, he glances over at the two men and smiles.]
((Don has been told to look for someone named Horatio Hornblower; if he were to learn the identity of Aubrey's companion it would be most convenient.))

[Jack was busy peering into a window when he saw the reflection of something very green and large. And he didn't turn around for fear that it might be real. Instead he spoke to Hornblower as mutely as he could get away with.]
'pon my word, Hornblower. I fear I may be growing mad.
[Action]seventeensirSeptember 12 2011, 22:40:24 UTC
Wh--
[Hornblower turned his head... and stared. He'd seen some strange things. Monsters, even, during the battle at sea in the last draft. But here in the confines of the town, he'd never seen...]
[The sight still catches Hornblower off guard, but he recognizes it from amidst the battles of the last draft, and the salute is something he can't ignore. Or even nod off.
Instead, he looks straight at the armour and answers the salute with the crook'd salute of the British Navy.]
[Where Hornblower sees a suit of armor, Jack see's an armor-clad individual. Which causes him to raise a brow since he has never seen this kind in his life.]
[In the event that the Gentlemen of Luceti find their way down to the grocery store, they may just find one Miss Selphie wandering throughout the isles plopping miscellaneous items into a basket.
Just ignore the little red wagon that seems to be parked outside the entrance with her name written on it in bright yellow paint. Don't trip over it now boys.]
