[Oh, Sparrow has something!]

A back pain, you say? Is it more of an aching pain or a stabbing pain? Or an "I've just been shot in the back" sort of pain?

A combination thereof.

Then I will speak to you now, Captain Aubrey, of a remedy what few outside of the rather small but violent population of Bugger Island have ever seen: a sacred shaman remedy what might either be taken by mouth or brewed in a special tea that makes all your painful problems disappear!

[In a hallucinogenic haze of weird, basically.]

I'm sure the clinic has some aspirin or other painkillers. How bad is it?

Rather.

It's from an old scar. Sometimes the muscles contract. At least, that is what my doctor tells me.

Condolences.

Some painkillers then. I suppose some of Nala's magic could ease the pain, but if it's a scar, not much can be done since it's scar tissue. A hot water bottle or heating pad might help too.

Comes with the territory, don't it? [Chuckle, chuckle. He's gonna ignore the fact that she just said 'magic' because he is in pain. No other reason. At all.]

I'll be sure to try the remedies, Ginia. The painkillers too if I an acquire them.

[Ahaha. Someone forgot the "Miss".]

Hot water bottle. Tylenol. Magazines. Works like a charm, every time. Throw in a little daytime TV just for fun. I don't care if Stephen disagrees with me.

[ oh hi other captain jack. ]

Not remotely, I assure you. My own damn foolishness.

[Smart guy over here.]

Over-excretion, Kennedy.

Had some shrapnel dug out there and it never quite healed right. Smarts now and again but what can ya do?

[Jack's journal is still open, so the sound, at least, of Stephen Maturin's voice can be heard.]

Jack.

[The man is standing in the doorway of the room, pale eyes piercing that back.] How badly have you managed to upset that scar this time?

--Stephen! [We've been discovered! Quick! Hide the evidence!

Jack shuts his journal quickly and tries to turn around to face Stephen as if he hadn't been doing anything but a quick wince and he remains facing forward.]

Ah-- not...so badly?

Helping the young officers with their boat, I've no doubt. [He knows not what he says, Jack.]

Shall I take a look at it for you, my dear?

If you would I'd be most grateful, Stephen.

[He stands very, very slowly -- wincing while he does. Finally standing he lets loose a breath he wasn't aware of holding and reaches around to remove his shirt, as the waistcoat proved too cumbersome, and hisses in pain before retreating his hand as if stabbed.]

Goddamned --
