i was just thinking about the saying "flat as a pancake." a lot of times pancakes have a sort of dome-shape, which means that they are not flat. seriously, there are other things flatter than pancakes. howabout a piece of paper? or an envelope? or a greeting card? or a ruler? all of those things are much flatter than pancakes ( Read more... )

Dome shape? What pancakes are you eating? BTW, most of the time you make them on a griddle and all of the batter flattens out.

I am fan of the flat as a paper though. Pancake just sticks with you :D

no i know that most pancakes are fairly flat, but a lot of times they are thicker in the middle, which gives them a very subtle dome shape.

You know there is a mathematical rating system for defining how flat something is, with 0 being not flat at all (i dont know if thats possible) and 1 being as flat as you can get...

anyway pancakes are .96, and Nebraska is .99 That means Nebraska is flatter then a pancake.

Then again I read this in someone's profile so I dont know if this is true or not.

Theres no way it can be that flat, there are potholes and stuff so nothing can technically be totally flat. Especially not natural land formations.

Then again, Im a know-it-all. :D

actually if it is in relation to the scope, really flat parts of the earth (like nebraska) might win, because if you magnified a sheet of printer paper so it was the size of nebraska, it might have a lot of hills, but since it is so small normally we cant see them.

who is overanalyzing this? that would be me.

If you had my mom's pancakes with REAL maple syrup, you'd be singing a different tune.

i do use real maple syrup. i refuse to use "log cabin" or whatever it is called because i think it is just sugar water. which is gross.

i think the root of the problem is that my dad has been making the same pancake recipe for about 15 years. and we eat them every saturday. for something i never liked that much in the first place, it is really excessive. and they are really filling, and i can never eat a whole one but i do anyway and then feel sick. so basically now you know anneka's history with pancakes.
