Eurythmics, Auckland 1987 - I finished the matinee performance of a play for kids, cleaned off the greasepaint and rushed straight to the airport to catch the flight. Arrived 2 hours later, met my friend and grabbed fish 'n' chips (horrendous price) on the way to the arena. My second ever rock concert, bored to pieces with the support act - then Annie Lennox, in miniature, lit up the massive zip and filled the arena with that powerful voice until the closing piece, when all the audience lit up their lighters and swayed together, everyone's hearts going just a little bit tender - and there was the magic.

The fact that I am capable of remembering any of it is a miracle, but it was seriously memorable.

Although Marc Almond, Corpus Delicti and The Cure on the 'Wild Mood Swings' tour all rank highly.
