OOTP!

Saw it a few days ago. I wasn't able to watch it at midnight on the day of because I had class/work all in one day or the day after. Boo, but at least I still saw it within the first week. Anyway, I'll make this short.

The Department of Mysteries! I didn't imagine it to be THAT dark, but I guess it went with the flow of the movie. Totally loved Umbridge. Luna wasn't what I expected her to be, but she TOTALLY worked. "I'm going to get some pudding now." LOL.

What also sucked was Draco had all of . . . TWO lines as well! And he showed up like, three times. Boo. BUT OMG HE WAS SITTING NEXT TO PANSY I REMEMBER!

I know, didn't DanRad do a good job? I'm glad he decided to take it down a notch from the book!Harry. This was a change I totally approved. :D

And I'm with you on the lack of Snape. In fact, the movies thus far, have kinda underused most of the teachers, who are played by UK's greats... :\

While the recaps via the Daily Prophet was a good idea, I think the editing should've gone slower. My OLD eyes couldn't handle it.

Teehee, I felt the same as you do about the movie. I think I would pick this one to be my favorite, then PoA. I didn't really like GoF, because it was more of the same (like SS & CoS).

DanRad had the haircut of a fifty year old man, though, AHAHA. I don't think I'll ever be a fan of him, but I totally agree w/you, his anger very well done and a little too extreme in the books. Well, too extreme for Dan Rad to act out, or it would've just been his voice cracking all over the place. :D

Yes! I understand that they're "underused" though, or else it'd just be them taking over, and we'd forget all about Harry/DanRad . . . who's not UK's great. ;D But what little scenes Emma Thompson/Maggie Smith/Alan Rickman did have, I totally thought they blew it out of the water, as they usually do. :)

I need to go watch this again!

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah! Except that I was disappointed. Just because of a few things that would've been so easy to correct. Like Dudley's friends running away instead of just going home. Although that just annoyed me. What really upset me was the Weasley twins NOT getting their last say in, and the DE's masks being silver/black. WTH! The white is symbolic for a skull and death, hence DEATH EATERS YOU MORONS. argh. That really pissed me off. But all in all, I believe it was good. Not the best, because it wasn't my favorite book, therefore not my favorite plotline, but it was good.

Yeah! I don't know why it bothered me so much, the Weasley twins not getting their last say. I guess because in the book, it was just the perfect cherry on top of the sundae, and because I'm so used to that scene being THAT perfect, the movie only delivered it as "really good" so I was left wanting more. And I agree, the silver was a little too . . . galactic for me, HAHA.

It's not my favorite book either, but I have to admit, amongst all 6 so far? It's DEFINITELY the most well written. She really pours all her skills into that book. PoA = best plot, hands down.

I know! Argh. Oh yeah, POA has the BEST plot. But I love the sixth book. I haven't really pinned down why I love it so much, I just know I do.

Yeah, DanRad . . . he'll just always be pasty and trying too hard for me. Harry in my head is TOTALLY different from DanRad. BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE RON! Grint is not how I imagined Ron in my head at all, but I still LOVE that boy. He's just such a great actor! And I totally agree, did Lupin even speak? I think he had one line. And that's just NOT on. But this movie was so short that we only really got glimpses of everyone, even Hermione (who I thought was only okay, too, but she was less annoying in this one). And I agree, another half an hour couldn't have hurt. I get that they cut down certain things to avoid wordy dialogue, like Cho being the one who ratted them out and Sirius just dying like that w/out any backstory of how it was Harry's "fault" (via that fuckign SCARY HOUSE ELF the Blacks have, I forget his name. Kreature?), but other things were TOTALLY unnecessary, while they left out the necessary. UMM. Oh well ( ... )

Midnight premieres are always SO FUN! That and you're like, SCORE! I'm the first. ;)

I agree, I wouldn't mind that Luna being in my head when I read the books, either. She toned it down a bit, but she was still perfect. :) And I think Peeves was in . . . PoA? But only for like, 2 seconds, so people wouldn't have understood anyway. :( Sigh. I TOTALLY loved Snape's lines (what little of them he had, anyway) also, they were delivered perfectly and his dryness, jesus, I LOVE!

Did you end up answering your dad? He should read the books! :)

I told him:
1) Snape used to be a Death Eater...
2) switched sides and joined the Order, but played spy for Dumbledore because he still had access to the DE meetings...
3) killed Dumbledore in the 6th book...
4) so now everyone's confused!

No one in my house has read the books because I keep them safely hidden away in my room. They don't know where to find them. Here's a tidbit: I didn't like Harry Potter at all until after the first movie had come out (I didn't see that, either). It was Thanksgiving and my grandmother was tired of me not giving in to the HP pull, so she told me I couldn't eat my dinner until I read 3 chapters of the first book. She's a huge canon fan (will not go to the movies though, she believes her imagination will be corrupted).

Needless to say, I didn't eat dinner until I was done with the second book, because I loved the series so much :) That's a Thanksgiving I'll always remember!
