Stretched pamphlet

Jan 14, 2008 23:27

I remember awhile ago there was some talk about creating a stretching brochure. I had a full day of doing nothing but watching tv and eating today so I decided to take it upon myself and give it a shot.

Six hours later I have created the most informative brochure I could create with all the questions and information I could within a tri-fold ( Read more... )

grammatical corrections as i see them, starting from the beginning of the pamphlet:
"Patience:...before stretching again, and patience is crucial."
"Financial Investment:...can really add up over time, because almost every stretch involves buying new tapers, plugs, and other things needed to care for your piercing" (that's how i'd write it)
"Is my piercing...Before you start, your piercing...rule of thumb is that if you can pull down on your jewelry and see a space between your jewelry and piercing, you are ready to stretch" (how i'd write it)
"What's with...daily, or by wearing..."
you should probably reword the Gauging vs. Stretching because it doesn't make any sense...
i'd nix the point of no return stuff, since it's pretty much a myth. say, if you don't stretch too big, there's a chance, but no guarantees.
"Can I use a household...money to stretch, wait until"
"Tearing" nix the "and like blowouts"
"Blowout- When the skin that was on the inside wall of your piercing gets pushed outside of the piercing"
"Cat ass...wrinkled and ( ... )

"2. Tapers..." (i didn't know this is how tapers were supposed to be inserted...i just gently push mine through)
i'd rewrite to "2. Gently coax your taper through your piercing, making sure that it is well-lubricated. You shouldn't encounter much resistance if your piercing is lubricated and ready to be stretched."
"It is essential to take good care of your newly stretched piercing."
"Bleeding and discharge? Insert a smaller gauge of jewelry, and treat it as a new piercing."
"Oil massages are a great way to keep your stretched piercings happy. Oil moisturizes your skin, and massaging helps improve the circulation of blood in the area. Emu oil is great to use because it is deeply penetrative and possesses healing properties...cheap household alternative" (what i'd write)

for your links, i'd link here, to BAF, BAF stretching message board, and possibly BMEshop, since i think they'd be the least confusing sites

whew, ok. good job!

I thought someone already made one?
It never hurts to have more though! :D

One thing I noticed is that you mention how you can wear organics to prevent the smelly ears, but in the DOs and DON'Ts section you say Don't buy acrylic or organic jewelery. That could be a bit confusing for newbies. I think you should explain that acrylic and organics should only be worn in fully healed piercings. Same with double flared jewelery.
and you mention taping in the Common Terms section, but don't explain taping in the How To part.

i noticed that may be confusing as well, ill have to put a note in there that it is okay to wear once your ears are "healed."

with the taping issue, i couldnt fit the full explanation in there. i decided just to leave it to the basics of how to stretch and figured later on they could explore the world of taping themselves. do you think i should just ditch defining taping? i questioned it myself.
