I've been making small posts on tumblr during my Princess Tutu watch, and then it occurred to me that I should post on lj.
So, thoughts mostly from the first three episodes of season 2. (Warning for discussion of psychological abuse in the episode 2 section.)

Plus one! I'm saddened by how many romance-conflict arcs would have the bottom punched out of them by the acknowledgement of queer or poly people. (Although if my osmosis of Princess Tutu was accurate, you can fanwank it as meta, perhaps? Drosselmeyer imposes stories in which he sets your role; you can fuck with the archetypes, though, if you're clever and determined.)

The show has a lot of queer subtext (or even text?) too. Ahiru blushes around a girl and says "I mean, of course the flowers are pretty! But that's not all..." At one point the other students think Mytho is in love with a male student, and don't find the idea weird/gross, just kind of disappointing.

Also lol Drosselmeyer no he wouldn't recognise polyamory.
Uzura! I know some people find her annoying but I am not one of them because I love Uzura, she's a delight!!

But yes, I love that Ahiru loves Rue without reservation and cares about her wellbeing when Fakir if pushed would probably write her off. They are just so the best and I love them a lot. (Giselle/S01E04 is my favourite S1 episode for reasons!!)
I also miss Edel a lot, it is a wound that does not heal. I wrote introspective Edel fic aaaaaaaages ago but wound up not posting it. I might rewrite it. Maybe. But yeah, I love Edel and Uzura and forever sad that they couldn't coexist because it would be the greatest. (Fic heads up: I think everything of mine that is published is set post-series, so definitely do not read any of it until you are done.)
