I was intrigued by the debate spurred on by the last entry, in which Magdelena wrote, "Bush won. Strife."

Now, as we all know, Magdelena's life is a vortex of pain and misery.

However, would Magdelena's life have been more, less, or equally strife-filled had Kerry been elected?

Discuss.

considering hating bush is a fad among about 90% goths and gawths, one would think she'd feel a little happier.

I'm sure we'd get the same amount of journal entries either way.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. She's notorious for going with the flow as far as what is 'popular' goth. I mean, isn't the whole point to be mocking them? So, I can't say I'm surprised.

Nah, it isn't a fad, it's a decision. After all, goths didn't hate Clinton, so it isn't as if they blindly hate who is in power.

Yes, but it wasn't "in" to hate Clinton. Only bigoted rich white people hate Clinton.

I thought her character was too self absorbed to be concerned with politics.

Thats one of the great things about comedy, its ability to take your mind off of real life problems and focus your attention on trivial ones that make you smile.

I think her life would go on the same either way if it's not one thing its another and its the same shit different day. Her misery knows no bounds least of all politics. Had Kerry won i imagine she would have simply replaced Bush with Kerry and the strife would go on, as it should.

No. Goths don't REALLY care about politics. They just look for reasons to bitch, and the guy who's stopping them from being their individual gothy selves is the antagonist. He gets elected, they have more reason to whine.

You might be surprised how many goths are also political activists.

If by activist you mean sitting around, bitching, and not doing anything else about it, yeah. Or maybe sending in bad poetry to no-name publications. Or maybe having a sit in at the local starbucks, swearing that they won't stop drinking coffee till sweet anarchy comes to realization.

Nope. I mean like traveling down to Georgia to protest against the School of Assassins, or in general marching, demonstrating, agitating, and writing letters to the editor, congressmen, CEO's, etc.
