I was intrigued by the debate spurred on by the last entry, in which Magdelena wrote, "Bush won. Strife."

Now, as we all know, Magdelena's life is a vortex of pain and misery.

However, would Magdelena's life have been more, less, or equally strife-filled had Kerry been elected?

Discuss.

The strife from Kerry's election would have been the strife that comes from thinking you can get that cookie, and then having the entire cookie jar go shattering on the floor.

The strife from Bush's election will be the strife that comes from the pack of thugs that plan to mock, humiliate, and steal your lunch money every day.

So they are completely different kinds of strife, in one your hopes get dashed, and in the other, you simply have no hope.

In my opinion Magdelena's life would have been strife of different types. Had Kerry won, Magdelena would have had stife of a more personal type. She'd be caught up in her own woes. Love, life and the pursuit of happiness, boyfriend issues, or lacks.

Instead with 4 more years, Mag's strife can be all about the planet going to hell. After all Bush gained political capital from the public, and he intends to SPEND SPEND SPEND it. She'll be able to watch as we fight to keep any old growth forests, fight to have any kind of focus be brought to bear on ecological issues, national parks. She'll get to watch as more power is granted to "keeping us safe".

Yup strife of different flavors.

About the same. Considering the debt bubble getting ready to burst, the peal oil production coming in a few years and the war in Iraq beginning to esculate... no matter who won, Strife will have loads to be angstie about.

Magdelena should be happy for Bush's win, for Bush = Satan, sadness and doom. And these are totally gothangstmisery things.
