Poking the Tarbaby

The whole thing just speaks volumes for itself. Aren't there better things in life to do?

Yes. Which is why I generally try to avoid drama as much as possible - it sucks out too much time and energy, and life is too short. But some people seem to thrive on it, and the only way to avoid it totally is to just lock yourself away in an ivory tower and throw away the modem.

You have to look at who's attacking me. Do you see ANYONE of value or integrity commenting? And those that do, aren't they constantly struggling with their flaws in their journals?

Feeling the need to attack someone like me who has self respect and dignity is their purpose in life because they hate themselves so much.

The time they spend on hate just compounds their self loathing. I mean, how can anyone sleep better at night knowing they wasted so much time on something so ugly.

This is why I have deleted my journals and entries. Because of the shame, the anger, the rage, of having said bad things, and having wasted the time defending them.

It's sadness, over and over again, of which I have no more time for.

You have to realize that at least some of the wounds are self-inflicted. People couldn't throw at lot of things at you if you didn't at least give them the ammunition to do so in the first place. Half of the pictures on that web page are crude photoshop mockeries. But the other half are screen captures of what you actually said ( ... )

I just wanted to say thank you for saying this today. I don't know any of the people involved so I am not caught up in the middle of it nor do I ever want to be. But it appeared on my friends page and without knowing what it was, went to the site. Now granted, I don't agree with some of the things that were said by the person that the site was attacking, but the attack back by the person that created the page just kind of mortified me.

It left me wondering, "Do two wrongs make a right?"

I don't know why there has to be so much hatred in the bear community. When I see things like this it's one of the things that makes me afraid to associate with many of the guys.

I'm sorry you got caught up in drama unawares. I deliberately posted it behind an LJ cut with a BIG WARNING to make sure people didn't wade into it by accident.

I generally consider moderate drama to be a "forgivable sin" so I still associate with people who engage in it - I just prefer to keep out of it whenever possible (unfortunately, it's not always possible).

A few things I have very little tolerance for are deliberate deception, deliberate manipulation, and deliberate cruelty (even those can occasionally be forgiven or glossed over, but when they are patterns of behavior, they are problematic for me).

EVERYBODY has issues. I just try to avoid people with lifetime subscriptions :)

Old drama never dies.

Unless it's staked through the heart, has holy wafers stuffed into its mouth until it chokes, and is exposed to direct sunlight. Oh, and a bit of garlic can't hurt either.

LOL, had to laugh at that one. That was pretty good.

As someone once said, "the internet never forgets". and it's so true.

Just try saying anything embarrassing, or posting a nude photo you don't want to get out, or showing up on the news in an unflattering way, and you belong to the net forever!

Thank you.

I have tried to stay out of this whole quagmire up to this point, but that page was over the top.

And yes, that kind of screed does tend to have the opposite effect (much the way Fred "godhatesfags.com" Phelps just makes himself look much more ridiculous than anyone he lambastes).

I'm a Pisces in the Western Horoscope, I'm a Serpent in the Chinese Horoscope, Jaguar in the Mayan Horoscope and a Willow tree in the Celtic one, I for one would have liked something less analytic but alas, four nerdy signs can't be wrong :)

"If you're going to fling mud, people, have the decency to do it openly."

Garbage like this Encyclopedia Dramatica entry exists because decency on the internet went out the window long ago. More and more, it's become the playground of cowards with no lives and no souls who can hide safely--but not always--behind their anonymity, or who gather like snickering, sychophantic schoolgirls around their hate-gushing friends.

Tony has made mistakes. He's shot his mouth off when he should have kept it shut. Counting to 10 is often a foreign concept to him. He has difficulty hiding his emotions, good and bad. He and I have gone around in circles about this. I do not condone it.

But his detractors judge and convict him on merely one or two aspects of his character, completely ignoring the rest because it doesn't fit their agenda. How sad is that? But that's what Empty Vessels do--they try to be filled. With hate, when nothing else is apparently available.

I'm constantly tell him to "just let it go"... unfortunately, he has the tenacity of a pit bull.

I just now saw that "Dramatica" entry; it is disgusting as well as childish. It goes beyond slander, as far as attempting to destroy a human being. It's obvious whoever created that entry is a very unhappy person filled with so much bile that it has to be spewed out onto others.

Tony has supposedly done a few things I myself would find objectionable, but I barely know the guy, and I won't waste my time judging and persecuting him. Anyone who does needs to get a life of their own.

Thanks. I brought this discussion up in another journal, and ignited a huge flame war, mostly with two anonymous cowards who kept flinging childish insults at me for being foolish enough to try to inject logic into a shit-fight, and for being clueless as to not know the scurrilous nature of Encyclopedia Dramatica in the first place.

Well, exCUUUse me for being foolish enough to actually BELIEVE that people mean what they say, and taking them at their words, and holding them accountable for them. After all, that's what that article (or rather, the small percentage of it that is actually legitimate criticism) is doing in the first place.

(Fortunately, they can't comment here without showing their faces (since I forbid anonymous postings), although one has actually followed me around LJ and carried the flame war into another journal.)
