The roof access ladder had it's lowest rung some 20 feet off the ground.

"Okay, let's get up this ladder. Who needs a boost?"

Jumping to get that on his own, wouldn't be the subtlest move for Jake, considering no one here really knew about him. Not that that really seemed to bother him all that much.

With a bit of a run up, Jake threw himself at the ladder, managing to grasp the last run with one hand and pull himself up, the show off.

"I'm good," he said, once he was up. "I can grab anyone else from up here, if they need it."

Not one to be outdone, Connor likewise politely declined Pippi's offer of help. Slinging his duffel bag over his shoulder, he made a leap and grabbed hold of the ladder, pulling himself up.

After everybody was on their way up the ladder, Pippi jumped up herself and started to climb.

"Okay." She said once they were all topside. "There's an access hatch over here."

Somewhere in the forest of metal vents, pipes and sky lights there was a soft shuffling sound. Something banged lightly against something metal.

It's probably a cat or something.

Jake halted, that extra-good hearing of his on high alert. Weird noises he couldn't place, never a good sign.

When nothing seemed to happen after a couple of moments, though, he shrugged, and moved forward, keeping an eye out for anyone patrolling.

While Connor had heard the noise, he figured it could be anything, and worrying was premature at this point.

He was however keeping on the "lookout" for any unusual scents.

Pippi stopped when everybody else did and looked around.

"What do you think tha... ACK!"

Several silent but frenzied looking people rushed out from just absolutely nowhere.

Two of them pounced on Pippi who lost her footing and fell backwards.

Connor's bag was off and on the ground, and his axe was in his hands. He swung at the figures approaching him.

Pippi tried to take a strong hold on the shoulders of one assailant as Jake modded with permission reached for the other to pull him off.

Pippi was unpleasantly surprised when she discovered that the flesh on her attacker was soft and spongy. Her hands actually sinking in a little bit.

"Oh... That's just... No."

The two on Cassie scratched and snapped their teeth, trying to grab hold and bite her.

Connor's axe thunked neatly into the chest of the person coming at him. The person stood there for a while staring blankly and then began to wave his arms at Connor and try to keep moving forward.

Jake's attempt at getting one of Pippi's assailants off of her resulted in the arm of said assailant disengaging from his body with a really unnecessarily loud "squelch" noise. Jake now had the now one armed man's full attention... And his arm.

Pippi threw her remaining attacker off, causing resulting in a sound more like "splut" and no more movement.
