Being sick sucks. Hard to get to sleep, then when I do I wake up at like 5am. Oh well. I guess it's been awhile since I read LJ or posted. I've been good ... thinking a lot about what I should do with SPS ... I am not doing as well as I had hoped. Failed psych, even though I already knew almost everything we needed to know for that class. ( Read more... )

There must be some sort of bug going around, as I'm suddenly sick as well, as of about 5 hours ago. Ever since I got mono, every time I'm sick it feels like that. Weird ( ... )

Sorry about the headache inducement of rambling! To respond, I think corporate control is far wider than you seem to think. You say the media bias has more control, but guess who owns the media? Giant corporations like Viacom. I think it was five corporations that own something like 99% of the media. I wish I knew more about that but I don't remember who exactly owns what. Anyway, the mass media is controlled by a few people who own a huge amount of the companies in America, and their control extends insanely far. If you just watch awhile of Fox news and if you know what is actually happening in the world that they *could* be telling you about, you will see the kinds of horribly misleading things they will say. The lies they will tell just to keep the population entertained and blissfully ignorant of the world. And that's just the news. Then we go to the government. Corporations control the laws Congress makes by paying the Congressmen's wages. Their huge donations control people by saying "well, we might not give you this ( ... )

I did know all of that. I'm well aware of the major 5 fortune 500 companies that control practically everything commercial, including the mainstream news. And I'm well aware of the controlled release of information, but I believe that the controlled release of information is more government related. Bush has major pull with more than a few companies, and the government is capable of supplying those Fortune 500 companies with a lot of business, such as government contracts and so on. It goes right down the chain of command; the government wants this and this to be said, and not to say anything about that and that, so they could lean on the fortune 500's to control what their various news channels air. I know there are a few examples of this. This is why the only news I ever watch for an extended period of time is Democracy Now! Occasionally I'll see something on one of the others that sparks my interest, but after watching it for a few minutes I just get too angry to continue watching. I've had enough of this fucking Terry ( ... )

The point isn't who's controlling who, they all their ties and they all manipulate and take advantage of each other, the point is that the government shouldn't be so tied up with the business. Government should be above business, and it's not at all. Should be able to set environmental laws that are written with the actual environment in mind, not somebody's profits. The Terry Schiavo pisses me off, as well. Not only do they go on and on about it, they keep talking about all the unimportant little details. Oh well. We really need a good news show on tv. I read the NY Times online though, and that is pretty good ... they are pretty well known for debating both sides (or just the liberal side) of things, and attacking government mishaps and such that most news organizations don't cover.
