Thank you to everyone who has asked questions about Stupid Boys Fest! My predicating-questions mojo was faulty so I was having trouble writing a FAQ before everyone started writing it for me! :)

The UK edition of this book is different in several significant ways. For example the US "How to Escape from a Straitjacket" article is replaced in the UK by "How to remove your underpants without taking off your trousers".

I feel cheated. :D

Where the UK "Thing To Do" is different, may I use the alternative as a prompt? Do you want to know the UK versions? After all, if the fandom is UK based (e.g. Harry Potter, Dr Who...) they may be interesting/relevant.

Actually, we didn't list these in the order from the book and I can tell you that prompt is in the book and will be up later.

Just keep looking at the prompts as we reveal them. Trust me, it'll be worth it.

According to the Table of Contents of the US book on Amazon, the two books ARE different. And the Straitjacket one is definitely NOT in the UK book (I own it - on the equivalent page one learns "How to Memorise the British Kings and Queens").

The trouser one was in a different section (which was why I didn't find it the first time), but I've just gone through very carefully and there are definite differences - such as the US version lacking "How to drink a yard of ale without drowning" (I'd like to see the Marauders try that one Hogsmead weekend, perhaps with a yard of Butterbeer!), "How to get by in Welsh" and "The 5-Gallon Rubber Nuisence" (just as examples).

My question still stands. (Particularly as, without the proper guidence I won't know what the the US alternatives mean, or how to carry them out.)

While those do sound pretty awesome, we've already selected all the prompts for this fest from the US book (we didn't even know there was a UK version). We are not using all 211 titles from the book, so there are many from the US version we are skipping.

Because we are running a fest based on a specific set of prompts and have set up an organizational system here based on that, we would like to keep the entries posted at the comm related to the prompts that we have chosen.

If you have a question about one of the prompts, you're more than welcome to ask about it. Another option is to just go with your best guess. There are a few things that we selected, not because we knew what it meant, but because the potential for what it could mean sounded hilarious.
