Halla

kay, I've got a paid account and I have ZERO HTML/CSS knowledge.
All I want is to put all my entries in a box (like this) just smaller.
With the backround I have now and have the scrollbars on the inside of the box match the ones on the outside.

Tiz all! I hope someone helps me :O)

How well do you know the LJ style system?

Do you have a paid or free account?

Question: I am having problems with my Friends Page on the SailorSidebar style. What is happening is certain enteries are being put into a very small space while others are just fine. This is happening when the user does not choose a current (music or mood). However it is not happening on my personal journal. I want to know how to fix this as soon as I can.

Whether or not you have a paid account: Paid Account

The amount of HTML/CSS knowledge you have. Do you know anything about it? Have you ever made a web site? If I told you, "make a table cell with this in it," would you understand? If I told you, "put this in the style sheet," would understand?: I'm almost completly self taught. If you told me to put something somewhere, I'm resorceful enough to figure it out on my own.

The amount of knowledge you have regarding the LJ style system. If I said, "Change this in LASTN_PRIVATE," would you understand? If I said, "copy %%range%% and paste it after %%events%%," would you understand?: I'm good with this.

E-mail if you wish: I'd like ( ... )

Alright, it's flared up again, and I saw one doing it which had a subject in it. "It is: 6:52 pm on Sun, May 4th, 2003" in the atheist community. On the actual community post it looks fine, but in mine, it's taking up maybe 100pixels.

My paid account is running out within 2 days and I'd like to get it fixed before then.

Not a style problem, exactly loreleif May 5 2003, 07:44:38 UTC
I think it's an HTML problem. You're missing a good number of and tags. Your code (putting the currents where they would go) ends up looking like this -- I've added the missing tags in red. Try adding them and see if that fixes it.

%%subject%%

It is: %%datetime%%

%%friendpic%%

%%user%%

%%altposter%%

%%event%%

[delete this one]
%%currents%%

%%talklinks%%

Then, take all of the TR and TD tags out of the CURRENTS and TALKLINKS sections. See if that helps.

Everything seems to be in working order now, except not the journal entery borders are connected, and I like a 2 space in between each entry. I don't even know how that happened. I'll give you a page print of each of them (my friends vs. my enteries which is how I want it spaced) to show what I mean.

This is what I see when I go to my recent enteries page
http://foreverfree.com/naivemichiru/Enteries
And this is what I see when I go to my friends page
http://foreverfree.com/naivemichiru/FriendsPage

Notice how in the friends page they're joined? I'd like them to be spaced.

Sorry I'm being such a greedy brat. Usually I play with it and figure it out on my own, but I'm stumped.

Okay I’m using Lastn Style #243299 and I want my friends view to be the same but for some reason it isn’t working right. I have tried so many different things and nothing works right for me.
The Friends Style #243332 is just messy. I don’t know where I went wrong and I have no clue of how to fix it.
Can you tell me where I’m going wrong and how to fix it.
I know a little about styles but not too much as you can see.

well it seems i dont know as much as i thought i did. lol
i have a paid account.
i had to remove my style for my friends view because it was so messed up.
seems like i will just have to deal with nothing on my friends view since i cant seem to figure it out and no one ever wants to help me out.
if you explained things to me i probably wouldnt get it right because someone did that already and i seemed to mess things up even more.

The overrides should work equally with all browsers; the problem is likely that NS and IE handle CSS differently. A good source to look at is http://www.blooberry.com/indexdot/css/propindex/all.htm, which lists all CSS properties and notes issues with them in different browsers.

If that doesn't help, let us know -- what are your overrides? What level of CSS/HTML and LJ Style knowledge do you have?
