So I'm reading another post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel. Earth is ravenged by plagues (not an unlikely scenario, even if they aren't of alien origin). Main characters survive by holing it up in the woods and waiting out the worst of it. Later they come out and return to what's left of society. No Mad Max vigilante episode in this story. John Kerry: excellent acceptance speech! I was underwhelmed by John Edwards' speech yesterday, but this one by Kerry took it all! BTW, I heard those balloons were biodegradable.

I stumbled on an AM radio station playing a Jerry Goldsmith tribute - all night! Who would have expected such a thing in a musical backwater like Nashville? I am flabbergasted! (I don't really need to listen to this and brave the commercials. I seem to have all these soundtracks on cd already).
