Today I bought an old 35mm film SLR camera. I'm taking a black and white photography course in March at an arty, hippie school. I have vague plans to start posting pictures again in or around April. Now that I have a job and actually know what's going on, I'll probably get some real hosting and try to find photoblog software/design that I don't ( Read more... )

Michael Cook could be greasier than a fish factory, I just think he smells a touch better.

Two things:

I just noticed the camera you got. That was my first camera ever!! The exact one I had!! It's beautiful, and heavy, and god, I am in love with that thing still. I took some beautiful photos, and I had no idea how to even load film in the beginning of my class.(The only thing that kinda sucks about it, is that it doesn't have a hot shoe mount for some reason, but I hardly used a flash, and it doens't seem like you use one either very often.)

2. A very, very long time ago, you recommended Explosions in the Sky to me. I remembered this, but just got around to getting my hands on some, and loading my Ipod the other day. AND NOW I LOVE THIS BAND SO MUCH. Thank you so much !!!! And, I went to their website, and they are from Austin, which is where I live. That is the weirdest damn thing to me.

(The same thing happened with Malcolm Kipe, I finally got his album, listened and loved it. Found out he was from Austin.)

Yeah I like the camera so far. Haven't gotten anything developed yet, so we'll see what it looks like, but I like the feel. I'm so used to the digital that I still have to remember to actually focus. And no I pretty much never use flash so I wasn't worried about that.

I'm definitely happy you got into Explosions, even if it has taken you a while. I've never heard of Malcolm Kipe, so maybe I'll look into him.
