I believe some of the confusion may involve the Shinsengumi from my world, which seems to differ greatly from the one the rest of the Shinsengumi come from. For one, they are based in Edo, not Kyoto like the others.

They're all Shogunate dogs, however.

Hrm... well, I'm not part of the Shinsengumi... and mine's the one that was invaded by aliens, so I guess we're the confusing ones, I suppose.

I don't think you've heard of me, but the name's Sakata Gintoki, yorozuya. Nice ta meet 'cha. And your name's kinda familiar...

[OOC: In reality, Gintoki's name is a reference to Sakata no Kintoki, so maybe Tezuka might make the connection? |D;;]
