Woke early, had a snack at the station cafe then caught the bus to Southland, needed a new keyboard and mouse. Also to replace my Kmart headphones. Bought socks, omg what joy. One favourite historical figure of early #Sydney for me is Daniel Moowattin, an Indigenous boy of Parramatta, born around 1790. His story is not widely known and I think it should be ( Read more... ) -

Back on 11th April after almost a month in lockdown and confined to my suburb, I had lots of books that I had put aside for a rainy day. Taking inspiration from "Little House on the Prairie", I did some illustrations.

My second stop of the day was a superb Japonisme exhibition at the National Gallery, my absolute favourite place in Melbourne. There were already rumblings about the pandemic and within a few days who knew I'd be inside to afraid to go out. My very last "gallery day out" was back on the 11th of march, just a few days before we locked down and the city was deserted. I went to the north side to a small gallery to see a miniatures exhibit that really intrigued me. Stopped at my favourite Lebanese eatery before heading back to the city for another exhibition. Over a couple of days I sculpted a Star wars Zabrak alien character. I made his hair via methods found on youtube. He is polymer clay so he is a bit fragile, and although I have not much experience at painting so small I gave it a go, its a bit rough but Im ok with how it turned out.
