It will be the same for my friend Jeannie (origamihaiku) who passed away a couple of years ago.

I didn't know about this. Dammit.

As far as I understand from the post on news, if the journal has more than one post, it will not be purged. They're only deleting journals that:

a. have no posts (like people who just have RP journals, and don't actually make entries)

b. have not logged in for 2 years.

Also, you can e-mail support and get someone's journal turned to memorial status. It doesn't have to be family that requests this.

His journal can be converted into a memorial journal, Sadly, one of my LJ pals, irana died earlier this year. Fortunately, her journal was transitioned to a memorial site, with all of the entries frozen in time.

You can contact us pretty much any way - email to support@livejournal.com, webmaster@livejournal.com, open a Support Request, open an Abuse Request - no matter which way you contact us requests for memorial status will get handled by the right folks.
